Description: Building on their long-standing appreciation for retro electronic music production and the newfound bandwagoning of synthwave, vaporwave and ‘80s tom fills, (and ignoring for a moment J-Punch’s unhealthy fixation with Nicolas Cage,) this duo has managed to create a moving sonic experience that is both current and timeless. Take a listen, or don't. The cloud will judge you regardless.
More About J-Punch and this record.
J-Punch bangs out catchy electronic tunes from his future box for all kinds of reasons. He scores features such as N10N’s True Skin (acquired by Amazon Studios to be adapted for TV) and two upcoming episodic series Product Wars and Tokyo Red(Black Pills). In 2016, he produced the original score for Puuba’s indie video game The Metronomicon, with help from his buddy Dave Moonshine. That guy also worked with him to release the downtempo / alternative chill-out albums Stick Figure Guy (2013) and Maximum Exertion (2015).
J-Punch has been at this a while. From the early days, back before we all had the whole of human history in our pockets, the Punch released hits like Take Me Away, Temple, Away Your Life, and Afterglow. Ask Siri or Alexa about “J-Punch Level” for a fun trip back to 2005. Or Google it, I don’t care.
Would you like to hear J-Punch? Great news: He’s on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, SoundCloud, bandcamp, Tidal, um.. Apple Music, and uh… Twitter? All the apps. If you’re hearing him on an app I forgot, he’s on that one, too. Speak the passphrase “J-Punch and Dave Moonshine” into the void, and behold! You will hear them sing and play, and probably your ceiling fan might turn on as well.
This summer, J-Punch and Dave Moonshine unveil The Kodiak Princess, an epic synthwave adventure for your ears and booty. Building on their long-standing appreciation for electronic music production and newfound bandwagoning of vaporwave and ‘80s tom fills, and ignoring for a moment J-Punch’s unhealthy fixation with Nicolas Cage, the duo has managed to create a moving experience you will never forget. The Kodiak Princess is THE album of our time. Be warned - you cannot unhear this. Dance to it, or sit still. The cloud will judge you regardless.
